Ah, the wastelands.
Glowing, purple orbs glittered in the moonlight. Though they were sightless, it seemed that they could see through every single thing that was in the graveyard. Every bone and rotting carcass was carefully stepped over, and the light lavender coat seemed to blend in with the dismal greys of the territory. A puff of smoke seemed to curl from the center of the wastelands, but it soon disappeared.
The ghost elemental seemed to sense the presences of every single once living creature that now resided here. It was making him restless -- Caecus whined a little before shaking his fur of all of the ashes and other debris that had attached to his coat during his travels. It had been a while since he had rested...or eaten. His stomach seemed to growl and moan in protest to his nonstop treading, but the blind wolf ignored it. There was no food available in this area, and he knew it. His ear twitched at the moaning sound of one of the tormented spirits...he blinked for a moment, the blank eyes staring out. Though they couldn't see things in the real world, they could see spirits, and right now, he was catching sight of thousands of crowded wolves, bulls, buffalo, mice, voles, and even a horse far off in the distance. His black raven wings fluttered a bit in the caress of the wind. They weren't calm, but there was nothing he could do about it. He gave them all a look that told them this, and they silenced, if only for a few more moments.
A few more moments was all it took, really. They were just enough to make the lone wolf fall to the ashy ground and lie under the watchful eye of the moon. His slightly emaciated form was the only living thing visible, but it probably didn't look that way. He looked like a mere shadow of his former self, and so he blended in easily with the rest of the bodies that littered this foul area...
post complete words 341 ;-; comments sorry it's so small, but this is just sort of for practice. xD

E M D E M A Y all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek amy Swaying from side to side was a common thing for her to do. Tail by her legs, casually swinging opposite to her feet, like an off-beat metronome. The wastelands were not a place she would normally go, due to the lack of wolves around most of the time. But, on occasions such as this where she wanted some peace, she would venture further into the loner-lands to be by herself. Mouth was partially open as she walked on through the wastelands; small curls of foul-smelling breath came from her mouth, two large upper-canines dripping slightly. She looked like some dribbling brain-dead wolf or something, but it was much more than that. Each drop which landed on the floor burnt it, made it smoke and sizzle and cry. It made her laugh, quite loudly too. Being a Maned Wolf, it was typical of her to be out in the night, she was more on the nocturnal side of things. Hunting, socializing and generally being a pest was what she would do to pass the time. Rarely, she would engage in a long conversation. But many wolves never saw the light again after that. She didn’t like others knowing her too well; names were fine, but nothing more than that.
“La la la, lala la la la. La la la, lala la la la.” Humming and singing away quietly to herself as she treaded on, not paying any attention to the broken remains she was treading on, bi-coloured eyes searched the area around her. Stopping to a slow halt, she turned to look up at the pale moon in the sky. It was a wonderful night for a roaming, she thought. Carrying on her way, something made her stop again, delicate ears turning. She heard an odd whine, a shallow and rather pointless one. Casting it off as nothing more than the wind, she carried on. Mane of rusty green fur was erect, each hair on its own. Something really wasn’t right. A snarl rippled over her face as she turned her head sharply in one direction, seeing a moving shadow. With…wings was it? How interesting! Snarl faded as a large and crooked smirk took its place. Had she found herself a little play-mate at last? Oh, she did hope so. Skipping off after the shadow, she watched the figure fall down and lie, just looking at the moon. Shrugging her shoulders as her skip turned into the usual swaying walk, she decided to approach the creature before her. “Oh darling, whatthss the matter? Feeling lonesssome are we?” Her voice was sickly smooth with a very bitter tone locked away at the end, and her lisp was clear as the moon itself.

It had turned out the desert wasn't half as deserted as it appeared. Quite by accident, not two, but three souls had gathered that night in that same spot of the vast wastelands.
In the distance emerged a lupine figure painted silver by the moonlight at his back. He was s timber wolf of average height, turned gray scale by the night. He had no features to distinguish him from any other, and that was what was unusual about him. Instead of an suffocating trial, the trip across the wastelands was a mere excursion... summer camp... picnic, and whatever other names the humans have for these fun travels across the scenic wilderness just for the pleasure of it. The dead things just added to the whole survival experience; and hey, what wolf wouldn't appreciate a bone or two to chew on to kill some time during the daily wait for dusk?
Auro, the wolf, had been traveling only at night to avoid the scorching gaze of the sun on the back of his neck, and he wasn't looking in a bad shape at all. A little thin maybe, but that was soon to be fixed as from his jaws hung the lifeless body of a fat jackrabbit that he was intending to devour as soon as he found a nice little spot to make a stop in. However, just then he noticed he had got company, and on his tracks he stopped dry. His eyes reflected the light green as he eyed the other canine. Her fur was strangely of the same tone... like a fox maybe, and she had legs longer than a stork's, plus a mane of fur that covered only from the back of her head to her shoulders. Being from the distant north, where strange things are not seen daily, Auro was unaccustomed to these things and the strange wolf-like creature puzzled him mightily.
Just then he heard a pitiful whine, and his head whirled towards the source of it. Then, he couldn't contain at least a quiet exclamation, and with a silent 'thud' the hare dropped to the dusty ground.
"What amazing wings!" Were the words he whispered under his breath. But no sound escaped from the keen ears of an alert wolf. Under other circumstances, he would have gone to the winged wolf's help for he looked like he needed some, but deep inside Auro wished he hadn't been heard or his presence known; it specially worried him what would the long-legged wolf...thing's reaction be...

The ghost speaker's tone seemed strained as he whined quietly. His sides were heaving. He was tired, he was weak...worn out. From what? Life, maybe? Eyes stared blankly at the floor -- at least, he thought it was the floor. Maybe he was floating in water...he could never truly tell, could he? He never really trusted his gut instinct as much any more. It had gotten him into trouble too many times before. He had felt the ground, thinking it was solid, and fell into quicksand. He had felt at water, thinking it was clear, and found it to be frozen over in ice. He never really felt like he was where he thought he was after those few moments.
He took a shuddering breath before inhaling the scents around him. The dead were starting to crowd him. There was no way he was going to join them, though. He wasn't all that weak...no, he was just tired, just a little tired was all. He just needed a good meal, maybe a rabbit or something...then he would be right as rain...Good as new, peachy keen...he smirked a little and ruffled his fur.
The sudden sounds of other approaching wolves brought his mind back to Earth, and he struggled to sit up. He wouldn't look this weak in front of any visitors, ever. No, then they would think he was a pushover, and he couldn't have that. His vacant stare could easily bring chills to anyone, but he wasn't going to merely rely on his creepy mellow expression to do his talking. His blind eyes traveled to where the first sound was coming from. A female, with a lisp. Seeming to taunt him...well! His ears flew back a little. "Well, I was perfectly fine on my own. Loneliness seems to follow me wherever I go, anyway," he said blankly, his tone completely void of any emotion.
His ear flickered backwards at the sound of yet another wolf approaching. The words didn't escape him, and he smiled gently in a silent reply. His sides were still heaving with the effort of sitting up straight. His wings were tucked in his sides; no use showing those off, now.

E M D E M A Y all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek amy Bi-coloured eyes gazed up at the sky, small flickers of white appearing in her irises as a contented sigh escaped her rigid muzzle. Long forked tongue poked out for a moment in a snake-like fashion, before hiding again within the safety of her jaws. Tail twitched as a cold breeze flew past. The deep green mane she held became erect, each hair being easy to define upon closer inspection. It was something that just tended to happen if she got cold. Still, it was a rare occurrence when it didn’t happen. Tilting her head to one side, the Maned wolfess gazed over the male that was lying before her. He was an a-typical Timber wolf; the greys and the browns gracing his fur coat. However, the large black feathered wings and the blank eyes made him unique. Realising that she might have stumbled upon someone who was blind, she began to pity hm. For a split second. Lowering her rear onto the gritted ground, she set her paws close to each other, head still tilted to her right shoulder-blade. Lips parted for a second, but she paused. Lifting her head and turning, she noticed another wolf. She had stumbled on a jackpot of two males.
Interesting.
Closing her mouth and letting a smirk appear, she held in her laughter. It seemed that the new male was indeed new to the bold additions that the wolf had, not mentioning her own starting physique. Perhaps her eyes would scare the poor devil. Fixing them both on the newcomer for a moment, she gave a sly wink before turning back to the winged one. “Indeed ssssir, you wingthsss are rather interesssting.” Giving a small bow, she let hr smirk fade to a more sincere one. She had a façade to maintain. Bringing one paw up to her chest, she let her head fall to the right again, erect mane flattening as she warmed up a little. “My name’ssss Emdemay darlingssss.” The purple furred female let her paw fall to the ground, tail swaying casually in the grit. It wasn’t the most comfortable place she had ever seated herself in, but it was better than nothing at all. She was, however, more interested in her possibly blind male-friend who was still lying before her, ears partially against his skull. Had she scared him already? Surely not! What a joke that was. Ears twitched as she remembered she still had a statement to answer to.
How forgetful she was getting.
Emdemay smiled again; “Were you now? I apologize for ssspoiling your alone time then ssssir. And might I add, you sssseem a little in pain or ssssomething. Are you alright?” Ugh, she was feeling sick in her stomach. Never before had she acted so nice. Still, she did think three was a crowd. Single one-on-one meetings were a lot better. And more eventful she found. Lifting her head back up straight, she watched him try and sit up straight, finding it rather pitiful and stupid.

And not only had she the weird proportions and unusual fur coloration, but she seemed to have a forked tongue like a snake's too. This was getting stranger and stranger by the moment; Auro wondered if they wouldn't be wolves but something more sinister... like spectres or something. Caecus' laser eyes seemed to back up his suspects and this place WAS rumored to be haunted after all!
Endemay lifted her eyes towards him and gave Auro a wink that sent a shiver running up his spine. He didn't notice how he had flattened his ears against his head and raised a forepaw as if he was about to escape. If she wasn't a wolf, how did he speak their language? What was she? An unwise curiosity grew in him as he weighted his options, and in the end he decided a little chat wouldn't kill him. It had been a while since he had seen anybody (alive) in these wastelands, and it wasn't as if he had believed any of these silly stories about ghosts and vampires. He wasn't a pup anymore and he could take care of himself, right?
Warily, he approached them, and with a polite bow he went and introduced himself. "Excuse my reaction from earlier, from where I come we don't see things like these very often. I am Auro from the far North."
He was feeling every bit as uncomfortable down there among these two than up in the hill where he had been before, but made an effort not to show the way he was feeling. He didn't know much about it yet, but deep inside he was hoping the rest of the habitants of this 'country' wasn't like them... or else it would have been all too strange.

The forked tongue on the female made a slithering sound, making Caecus' ear twitch. That was clearly abnormal - a snakelike tongue and a raspy voice...all with a lisp. She smelled like a wolf, and he could hear that she walked like one. Snakes didn't walk at all. They would slither. They were cursed with having no legs, cursed to eat the dust of other animals that rush before them...they were disgusting creatures. Caecus never liked snakes. They were unnatural...of course, that was how everything on this place was. Unnatural. Were wolves even meant to have elements like these?
His ear swiveled again, waiting for reactions from the other wolf he knew was behind him. A few ghosts padded towards him and looked around, seemingly interested in this snake-like wolfess. They began to circle her, and he couldn't help but wonder what her element was. He wouldn't be surprised if she was a ghost speaker as well. They seemed to have such an interest in her, anyway. She began to speak, and he noted the lisp again. The tongue was probably the one causing her speaking issues, and his ears flickered forward. Well, he didn't need to be hostile, just cautious. There was something wrong, he could sense it, but he wasn't going to do anything about it. "And so is your speech ...and your tongue," he answered back to her wing comment. His tail twitched as he seemed to look up at her.
"I'm fine," he said curtly. "I'm weak from lack of food is all. I need to rest to gain my strength." He then shook his fur and looked behind him, hearing the other wolf, a male, finally approach them. There was a dank smell of fear hanging in the air, and it made the lavender wolf's stomach turn. He spread his wings and smirked at the male's words.
"You aren't from around here, are you?" he asked, only to get the response and greeting that the wolf, Auro, was from very far North. "It's easy to see that," he said, a slight smirk still on his face. His blind eyes pierced through Auro's side - his focus wasn't dead on, of course, but it still looked as if he was looking straight at him.
