under the green umbrella trees, in the middle of SUMMER~
All in all it was a beautiful morning. Birds and butterflies fluttered by overhead, cheerily chirping along, their wings flashing an iridescent rainbow on the sparkling pool of water below. The shadows they had cast looked somewhat like hearts, but disappeared within moments. The sun was just advancing over the horizon, and colored the sky a radiant shade of orange and pink, though it didn't last long. Alice watched with awe, a sense of peace and happiness overwhelming her. It had been a while since she felt like this, but for some reason she was in a particularly good mood this morning. She had slept well the night before, and no dreams had haunted her sleep as they used to - or, rather, vicious nightmares. She was glad to be free of both, though she could never be sure if they would come back or not. She shrugged the thought off and peered around her, distracting herself from anything relatively important. Her lustrous blue eyes shined as she took in the scenery around her. One of the ups of being in Flyanta pack was the amazing territory they had - Alice couldn't deny it. Soft white grains of sand covered her paws and stretched across the expanse of the island, and vanishing at the water's edge. The ocean itself was absolutely extravagant - clear blue waters sparkled and shined against the sunlight, the gentle low-tide waves pushed against the shore with frothy white foam, the rocks beneath shiny with green moss. Around her, the island was alive with activity; animals hid in every corner of every size and shape, and the leafy green plants were plentiful all around her. Alice herself was sitting beneath a shady bunch of palm trees, smiling. Her white-and-silver coat was smooth and glossy, well-groomed from the night before and free of dirt or thorns. But she shifted her paws beneath her, for some odd reason, anxious to move around.
Alice wasn't very social, but she was in a good, friendly mood today and actually wouldn't mind talking to someone. But, at first glance, she saw no one around; oh well. She was used to being alone anyway, and figured today would be like any other day. She would walk around out of boredom, wondering what to do, hoping that she wouldn't stumble across her sisters. Or would she? She really honestly hoped not; the old routine was nice and peaceful, but terribly boring, and reliving it over and over again wasn't her first choice of what she might do that day. Still, it was better than running into one of her terrible sisters - if they were still alive, that is. She had only run into them once since she departed from family, but they hadn't noticed her - and naturally, she'd fled from the scene while she had the chance. Meeting them again shot a shiver down her spine just thinking about it, and she remembered all the times they were so mean to her... She frowned at herself. It was like she could never let herself be happy - there's always something to make her upset. No, she told herself firmly. I am not going to let anyone ruin my day today. Especially not my own stupid thoughts. She was better off not remembering those terrible days, anyway. She'd rather let the past be the past, and live instead for the future, as much as she wished that she could go back in time and do things over again. If she knew now that she would be so quiet, so defenseless because of them, she would have never let them push her around. But unfortunately, time stopped for no one.
Boredom striking her again, Alice stood up and brushed the sand off her pelt. She looked around her again; the blinding golden sun hung high in the sky. No clouds had drifted across the cerulean skies, but it wasn't too terribly hot outside; just the temperature Alice liked. She hated the rain, and was glad to be rid of spring, when the whether was ever-changing, though rain shed over the most of it. Even being an air element wolf, Alice couldn't stop all of the storms from happening, because she couldn't control the rain very well. However, she could create small winds or storms whenever she pleased if she had the energy, or simply alter the weather to her liking. But today was already perfect as it was, and all she wanted to do was enjoy it, if not enjoy it with the company of others. She sighed and thought of how romantic this place would be for mates... In fact, their entire territory was like it was meant for love. But, as it seemed, love was not meant for Alice... At least, not yet. She chewed on the inside of her cheek as she walked steadily around the island, her pace slow and even so as to not trip over something - that surely wouldn't be the best way to start a conversation, or at least not in this pack. She couldn't help but think again of her sisters, and wondered if they had mates yet. Probably, she thought sadly, her smile dissipating. They're so beautiful and flirty... And I'm so... So... Alice struggled to finish her sentence, but basically, she was and never would be as amazing as they were, even if her personality was kinder and gentler than the two of them combined. But around here, it wasn't personality that counted. And even the majority of the guys around here only thought about one thing... Two, if you counted themselves.
Alice sighed. Wondered if she'd ever have a love life. And decided that was probably not too likely.

Splash!
Seraphina was rushing through the cool ocean water, a smile plastered firmly on her face. She shook her glossy white coat, shattering the smooth surface of water with ripples and drops. The sunlight was almost blinding off the top na of the water and as it shone through the water drops, it cast a small rainbow in the mist. Sera threw her head back and laughed in pure joy. The female wolf began to pick up speed as she raced down the beach, leaving a billowing cloud of sand behind it. It was soft beneath her paws, but quickly growing hotter as the day wore on. In no time at all, she went from full speed to a dead stop, throwing up the small granules. Some of them managed to get down inside her coat and they began to irritate her skin. Ah well, time for a swim I guess! she said to herself as she waded out into the deeper water. It was quite refreshing and calming. As she began to take in her surrounded, she noticed a small figure somewhat far from where she was swimming. Finding her footing, Sera focused on the wolf and her smile only grew bigger as she realized who it was. Her fur stood on end and her eyes gleamed even more bright as she again picked up speed. Alice! she yipped, her voice high in tone and very, very excited.
She hoped that her friend could hear her from this distance, unsure if she could recognize her. When she finally reached Alice, her pace had slowed to a trot. Alice… she began, trying to catch her breath at the same time, hey! Isn’t today wonderful? she asked. Seraphinas’ smile said it all. She was glad to be out on such a nice day, not having to worry about her…mother…telling her not to get dirty, and to be careful of her fur. She was also happy to be sharing it with her best friend, the one wolf she knew she could fully trust. The snow colored female plopped right onto the sand next to her friend, sending up another little cloud of dust. Stupid sand… she muttered under her breath and then chuckled at herself. Sera let out a content sigh as she stretched out her paws before her and rested her head on them. Her golden honey eyes fluttered close for a moment as she basked in the warmth of the sun. When she opened them, another butterfly was coming past and it came quite close to the two female wolves. As she was just about to get up and go after it, it flew over and landed graciously onto the bridge of her muzzle. As Seraphina looked at it, she became quite cross eyed in the process.
Laughing at herself, she rolled onto her back, startling the creature and making it fly away. She watched it for some time before looking at her friend. So what have you been up to? she asked. Her smile gleamed and Sera felt she could not be happier. Today is so perfect… she said, almost to herself. In one swift movement, the white wolf was on her feet and shaking sand from her coat. In another, she was almost half way to the breaking waves on the beach. She turned her head around and looked sincerely at her friend, Come on, the water’s great! she barked, before racing into the waves again. This place was great to practice her element, but she felt she would rather swim than keep the water away from her. However, Sera did wonder if she could make rain with it. Positive that she most likely could, she decided not to explore further into the subject and contented her self to racing in with the waves an back out with them, leaving imprints of her paws in the wet sand. One particular time, when she was waiting for the tide to come out, she noticed a small group of birds nearby. Her attention was caught, and she watched them as they waited for the water to go out and then raced in and began to peck at the ground. Seraphina wondered what could be of use to them to eat in the sand, and she raced toward them. They scattered almost immediately and she grinned back at her white friend whom was still lying beneath the tree.
She turned and made her way back, stopping just in front of Alice. For a moment, she just stood there, looking around, but then she rocked back onto her haunches and curled her tail around her paws. So, how are you today? she questioned. It was time for some real conversation, she guessed, no more...fooling around. But it was so much fun!
