What a beautiful night, the female acknowledged the gem filled sky with all its wonder. Such a brilliant display of twinkling jewels that sparkled all the more against the velvet night sky. The young Grey inhaled a deep breath of the night air, closing her eyes as it enveloped her soul and she felt a part of this glorious night. And then she released, sapphire oculars remained set on the night sky as they beheld the celestial bodies above. Such a pretty sky...
And once again such a spectacle was not meant to be shared alone, yet here she was...doing it all over again. Should one ask why, the reason was simple; yet again her brother managed to sneak away from her inattentive eye and was off doing only the Fate's knew what. This was irritating! When she wanted to spend time with him, she was never around, or when she wasn't in the mood he was so persistent that they be together. The male had more mood-swings than a bitch in heat!
And here she was, within her own, alone and in the middle of a crater, literally fodder for some horny male while desperately needed his 'spring-time fix'. Some guardian Devyant was, if he wasn't even around when she needed him the most. The shot her head to the ground with a frustrated huff, doing all she could to calm her temper. Honestly, spring only worked to annoy her, as it meant Devy was always leaving so unexpectedly. Often her mind toyed with the thought of him finding some fae he didn't want her to know about...which was ridiculous since he never should interest before. Or... the female directed her attention to the sky, expression almost searching. Perhaps he had finally found someone to call his own. He was old enough, and he had needs or desires. But why would he hide her? Unless...he really didn't want her to know. And..if he did have a potential mate, then were would that leave her in his life? They were siblings, yes. But they were never without each other...another female would interfere with their lives. The idea of another bitch was unfathomable...
But the more Skarlet mulled the thought around...the more it seemed likely. And the sadder she became alone within the bowels of the crater.

D E V Y A N T !! He closed his eyes and let his paws drift across the earth, trusting the wind to guide him. Soft zephyrs circled around him and tugged at his fur. His vermilion eyes flicked upward to the expanse of stars over his head, twinkling amongst the darkness, speckles of light that filled him with warmth. His pelt seemed to be dusted with the starlight, catching the stark shades of black and white, accenting the rusty highlights that laced his grey fur. His ears swiveled forward, listening for something, though what that something was he did not know. He caught himself doing that often, straining all his senses for some kind of answer to an unspoken question. But that didn’t mean it wasn’t tugging at his subconscious, urging him to seek the right path.
The song of the mystics swelled around Devyant, and he inhaled it greedily, the beautiful aura of this place that brought a peace with it that he could never know. However, as he breathed in the cool night air, the wind shifted again and brought with it a scent. Her scent. All at once his fur stood on end, and a few coils of smoke crept out of his parted muzzle. Inside, the flame raged, and he wished nothing more than to break out into a gallop and join her, hear her voice, feel her soft fur, breathe in her sweet, sweet aroma. But it was just that that had made him creep off as he had done for the past couple of days, when it got to be too much.
It was, after all, the thick of spring. No wolf could hide the dazzle of pheromones that became a part of their smell, as much as they tried to flatten the scent against their skin. It was during the heat of the mating season that he’d first turned his thoughts in a different way about his dearest sibling. He did not want to suddenly be uncontrolled this season, now that they had been welcomed into the pack. As true as he felt his love was for Skarlet, he knew that the pack would not see it that way. He would never be accepted…though if she understood, that was all that mattered.
“Skar!” The guardian wolf dashed into the center of the crater, where she was at. He noticed the slight irritated look about her and lowered his head as he walked up to her, wondering what was wrong. He offered a soft, apologetic whine and nuzzled his face against her cheek, sweeping his tongue quickly on her ear as he inwardly reveled in their closeness. “Are you okay?” he asked quietly, guiltily, as he glanced back at the walls of the crater, and up at the laughing stars.

Deep in her own despair, the female took little notice of her brother's presence as he approached, let alone heard his voice. Her mind, too consumed with the worst thoughts of her brother, his presence went on unnoticed, until there was a subtle nuzzle to her cheek. Her entire form jumped and she spun around to face the familiar male. A flicker of fear crossed her gaze then a warm relief lit those deep hues. Slender maw parted in a wide smile as the female lept onto her brother, throwing her entire weight into the tackle.
Heavy plume waved like a triumphant flag as she devoured the male's face with whines and licks. Her paws grating every which-way through his fur as she aimed to pin him. She barked happily, "Where did you go!?" She snapped playfully at his muzzle. "You know I grow tired of these random excursions of yours. You could always take me with you!! So why don't you?" Her inquiry was enveloped by a whine as she female rolled over her brother and onto all fours. Tail still active and swaying, though ears were pressed back against her skull and head lowered in sadness.
As her usually habit called for, she pounced the ground in front of her, a gesture only given to her brother when demanding an answer. Those deep blue orbs peeked from beneath a grey speckled brow, gaze demanding an answer.

D E V Y A N T !! He stood like a chastised pup once he had pulled back from his greeting nuzzle, as he felt her body jump away from him and registered the fright in her face. It reminded him that something could have happened while he was away. What would he do, protect her from others or from himself? But at the thought of some hormonal male creeping down into the crater to bowl her over, fasten their teeth into her until she yelped in agony and fright… His hackles rose on his dark neck, and he glared with rage and guilt at his large paws. He’d failed her badly, as afraid of he was of what others would think. No, he’d hide it from now on, better than before, until she fell for him and they could live away from the pack. Who needed other wolves when they had each other?
Skarlet lunged for him unexpectedly, and he yipped in surprise and delight as her body crashed into his. He fell under her, struck with several lashes of her tongue. His cheek fur stuck in clumps as he squirmed underneath her, pushing at her chest with his paws, laughing out loud. He succumbed to her pinning after a few moments of struggle, not trying to hurt her of course, and glared up at her when she barked happily at him. Was everything okay now? He was full of relief that she had greeted him with excitement, not anger, but soon she snapped at him. He jerked his head back though it was not necessary.
He fumbled for an explanation as she rolled off of him and glanced sadly at him. As he took a bit too long to speak, she pounced forward with splayed forelimbs and glared in demand. He lowered his head as well and decided to deflect her accusation with one of his own. “I was exploring this place… I thought that you would want to speak to your other friends in Goronzo.” He turned his head away dramatically and concentrated on a bright star in the north, lifting his nose and closing his ruby eyes.
Devyant turned around again and walked toward her, lowering his head in a gentle nuzzle as he brushed his snout along her shoulder. “I’ll take you with me next time,” he whispered gently, meeting her beautiful sapphire eyes. “I promise.”

As easy as her mood was susceptible to change, she was not going to let her brother win with just a few sweet words and a nuzzle. Stubbornly Skarlet nudged her brother away then turned her back to him, tossing her nose into the air. She remained in such a position for a while, appearing to be ignoring him, while she was sneaking glances from her peripheral to see if her brother would react.
For added affect, she stamped a paw, pretended to squash some incest underfoot. Eyes closed and nose still poised for the air, she waited for his reaction. But she was an impatient female and her brother seemed to have an abundance of what she lacked. Eventually she caved in, turned to look toward the handsome male of her shoulder, then huffed. "Fine," she mumbled. "But if you don't take me with you next time I'll be very cross." She turned to face him fully, her face voice of all joking. "What would I have done if some male found me Devy? You know this is the time when I need you the most..." her voice descended to a distressed whine. She was by no means helpless, but it was an issue during the spring. Male's tended to lack chivalry and would do anything to get their ends met. Compared to another full sized male, she wouldn't have stood a chance. And she wanted to maintain her unmarred state as long as possible.
Skar walked up to her brother and buried her nose within his cream colored chest, nuzzling to the skin. "You're supposed to be my guardian..remember? I would rather be with you than my friends...you know that.."

D E V Y A N T !! His dear sibling kept her nose adamantly upturned after pushing him away, and he stared at her in incredulous upset. He was still being a bit overdramatic, though it still hurt mostly when he knew that she was right. He had really messed up. The glittering stars were seeming to mock him now, always in harmony with each other, always together—he felt more like the sun, burning and bright, but without those lovely stars to keep him company. His head was lowered as she shook his fur out briefly, to rid the depression that was a spark in him that could grow brighter. His slightly drooping ears perked up when he caught a flash of her eyes as she snuck a glance at him, but he only sighed and swished his tail across his heels, staring at his paws.
Skarlet stomped once at the grass but not long after turned to look at him; he knew her to be impatient and understood, with amusement, that she was tired of waiting for him to speak up. Keeping silent was usually the best thing for him in confrontations, because occasionally she might drop the question in favor of changing the subject. She threatened him with her being in a bad mood if he didn’t take her along, and he laughed with a wag of his tail. “Of course, beloved,” Devyant growled with a smirk. Her cross moods were generally the most amusing, but he didn’t want to make her really upset and angry with him. That would ruin everything he wanted in life.
Her remark about a male finding her hit home, and he winced visibly. With a turn of his head, he surveyed the earth of the crater, the lip of it from where he had first come, looking anywhere but at her. He seemed to squirm with guilt, glancing at her finally, without words but with all of the shame in the world darkening his face. He whispered a hoarse agreement, a bit of agitated smoke rising from his maw until he coughed and cut it off. He’d tear the face off of any male that dare do a thing to her, he knew, and barely kept a flame from escaping his mouth.
The grey and beige female walked to him, and soon her soft muzzle nosed his chest, as she nestled against him, whispering that she valued his company more than any other. Those were the words he’d wanted to hear, but he didn’t think that emotion would choke him this much. He lowered his nose and tucked her against his body with a paw as he sat down, brushing the tips of her ears caressingly, breathing in her scent, which was like his but less smoky, more feminine and gentle. The starlight cast a beautiful display of shadow and light to her azure eyes.
“I know, Skarlet,” her brother said, speaking her name with all the love in the world. “I am your guardian. I would give my life for you without hesitation if need be. I’m sorry that I kept leaving. My place is here with you and always will be.” He ended the monologue with a sigh, pulling back, and chucked her lightly under the snout with his own. He forced a brighter, more cheerful grin than his tender smile moments before, and swished his tail along the earth. Soon his body edged away from hers, lingering enough to take another ecstatic moment of closeness, and fell into a playful stance. He gave her a look from his lit red eyes that showed he wanted to make up for his being away with a little fun.

the silence is deafening
The night was brilliant. Through the trees of the Goranzo region a bright figure crept slowly. The male's light sandy colored fur had a tendency to glow slightly in the darkness making it a bit difficult for him to go undetected as was his intention right now. Generally it wasn't that big of an issue for the wolf because he wasn't exactly the sneaky type but at the moment, it was proving to be a bit of a problem. This particular wolf, still young and curious about everything, liked to know all the lands that he could. He'd settled into the Flyanta pack, mostly because it was the first territory he had come across that had any indication of pack life. And now, here he was, in the dead of night, creeping through the woods of the adjoining pack lands. He hadn't been here all that long and so he wasn't completely sure of the relationship between the two packs. When he really thought about it, he could be exploring the lands of a pack that would tear him to shreds on site. He preferred to think that they were on good terms though, mostly for his own sake.
The night was a typical warm spring one. The scents of the forest saturated the wolf's nose. Everything seemed to smell so much more during the night. Maybe the moist air did it, heavy with moisture and ready to drop it into dew as soon as the temperature rose. Maybe all that extra moisture carried the scent better. Whatever it was though, the wolf could pick up every luscious odor around him. The white moon flowers gave off a deliciously sweet aroma and the moist ground gave of a beautiful earthy scent that intermingled with mossy undertones and the woody notes of the tree bark and fallen limbs. This land was extraordinary. Maybe it was the fact that it was not the place he called home, or maybe it was the twinkling stars overhead blinking through the tree tops every so often, whatever it was, the the wolf was absolutely stunned by this land.
As he moved onward, stepping gracefully over fallen logs, padding through the tiny rivulets of water not big enough to be called streams, and ducking quickly out of the way of low hanging branches, the trees began to thin around him. The forest was receding and new scent were taking it's place. The sky was opening up above him and the true multitude of stars was made clear to the intruder. This new area had a unique smell all it's own, one the wolf couldn't place. There was something different about the way it felt here in general. The ground was becoming harder packed and more rocky beneath the wolf's paws and yet there was an unusual give to it. The air itself was sweet tasting. Everything was new and different. Before he could grasp the change, the earth changed again and the creamy young wolf found himself standing on the edge of an immense crater. Right in the center two wolves seemed to be playing with one another. The male froze. He had no idea was to do. There were sure to pick up his scent even if they hadn't seen him yet. All he could do was pray they weren't going to tear him apart for trespassing onto their territory.

As cuddly and endearing as her dear brother was acting, the young fae felt as though his soft spoken words were out of place, or rather such words should not have been spoken to her like that. She was used to his soft tone and constant contact, but him drawing her to him, voicing so softly his mind as though to a passionate lover, it seemed...foreign. But, her brother was close and that was all she wanted. It was enough to detour her mind from the strange thoughts and focus on the here and now, the comforting embrace of her sibling. Still, her mind tickled with something she should have noticed...
Skarlet couldn't have asked for a better distraction than Devy suddenly initiating a playful game. Rolling to all fours, cream colored plume shot into the air, swaying back and forth as an uncaptured flag while her forelegs brought her parallel to the earth. A playful growl tugged from her throat, increasing as she opened her mouth and let her tongue hang free from its side.
She so loved their games, and nothing seemed more fitting than to enjoy one now under the laughing heavens. Slender legs pounded the earth while the fae hopped in a zig-zag pattern in front of her brother, leaping toward him with a paw outstretch then reared back before she was caught. Ivory fangs bore in a taunting smile as she lept clear across to his left, turning the rear toward him and swat his muzzle with her tail.

D E V Y A N T !! Deciding his display of affection had been pushing it, the grey and tan wolf put all the more enthusiasm into simple play. He grinned when he caught his sister’s smile; she lowered her tough but feminine frame closer to the ground as her legs easily supported her. The starlight played with every silver fur in the black around her back, making it look like tiny glittering sequins were a part of her lustrous coat. Her coral tongue leaked from her mouth as a rumble exploded from her maw, the growling challenge issued at him as he lowered his forequarters, paws splayed and back arched in a playful bow. Ruby eyes trained on her shape as she twisted and turned on the path before him, darting back and forth, hurtling herself toward him with one paw reaching. His teeth flashed briefly as he attempted to capture the limb, carefully as he could of course, but she jerked out of his grip and his jaws clapped gently on the open air. As she landed, she pivoted enough to rush along his side, swatting his face.
Devyant barked hoarsely and twisted as quickly as his large frame would allow him, which was not very quickly. His teeth scraped on the end hairs of her tail, and he pushed himself into a gallop after her. Outstretching his muzzle, he aimed to tap her shoulder and get her to look at him, so that he could proceed with a tackle and perhaps a pin if she wasn’t quick with slithering out of his grasp. Soft pants issued from his parted mouth. He loved the exhilaration of running, and felt as if every twinkling star was lending some energy to him. He pretended as if he was pushing the earth under his feet, rather than carrying him onward. Night cool winds breezed through his fur, and he abandoned the pursuit of his sister as he veered away, closing his eyes.
His reason for backing off from her sparkled around his fangs. Like fireflies, tiny embers floated into the air and went out in flashes, before he poured a small frame from the innermost fire in his soul. Sides heaving, he gently coaxed the fire to grow, brightening up the darkness, setting his eyes aglow. An aura of flame flickered up around his face, the light and shadow sharpening all of the hard angles and giving him a menacing but handsome look. He sighed one last tongue of fire, watched the sparks flicker out around him or fall onto his fur, and turned toward his sibling again with a wide grin. He had the urge to play with fire some more, since it was the most beautiful in the darkness, but something up on the ledge caused smoke to billow around him instead. Coughing lightly, he narrowed his eyes through the smog and stepped forward with ears perked.
As the wind teased the smoke away, a new and almost briny scent burned in his nostrils. Expression suddenly turning dark, he turned to face where the smell was coming from and made out a lanky shape up at the lip of the crater. Not asking questions, he propelled himself forward into a canter, trying to make out anything about the intruder. All that hit him was that it was a young male. He released another flame into the air as he pulled himself up onto the stone outlining the crater, turned to the lanky cream-colored wolf, and snarled.
Devyant did not stop to think who this creature was or where he had come from, but he narrowed his eyes to fiery slits and bolted toward him once again. He bared his smoldering teeth and twisted his head to deliver a warning brush along his ribs. He did not aim to set the wolf on fire or to draw more than a few drops of blood, but the heat and feel of teeth would be unpleasant enough to warn him about trespassing and watching the wolves below.

the silence is deafening
The wolf's body was frozen, all his muscles had tightened as soon as he had stumbled across these two other wolves. He hadn't actually thought that he would see any more of his species on this little gallivant of his. Then again, he should have known better than to assume just because his own pack mates seemed to spread out from one another, and thus be difficult to run across if not searching them out, that all other packs would be the same. If he would have been thinking properly her would have at the very least, tried to turn and go back the way he came, praying on the one chance that the wolves had been to caught up in their play to notice him ever having been there. And for a moment, it seemed that might be a feasible option. The smaller of the two wolves, the female, seemed to be having entirely to much fun running circles around the larger one. She hadn't even so much as turned her head in his direction, nonetheless actually noticed he was there. And for another second, the larger male seemed be in a similar train of thought.
The male wolf, who, even from this distance, Kreios could tell was significantly larger than himself, took off in a similar playful run, smoke seeping out of his muzzle. An occasionally burst of light emanated from his throat and the intruder was quickly alerted to the wolf's element. Just as the adolescent wolf's body was beginning to relax enough for him to turn away and follow his trail back to his own pack, it happened. The fire breathing wolf's head snapped around and fixed on the exact spot where Kreios stood. Almost instantly the wolf burst forward into a run and once again, fear froze the smaller wolf in his place. Another burst of flame illuminated the night and the chocolate wolf caught an easy glimpse of the burning red eyes of the advancing wolf. It took only a few seconds for the wolf to reach the edge of the crater and heave himself over the lip to face Kreios directly.
It now was even more obvious the size difference in the two wolves. Though the two were nearly the same height, only an inch or two separating them, Kreios looked like a drowned rat compared to the bulky, muscular frame now towering over him. He shrunk down and low to the ground as his body would allow, his tail plastered firmly between his thighs. His mind was equally as paralyzed as his body. He could think of nothing to say. His throat burned with the urge to scream out an apology, an assurance he had meant no harm, anything, but his mind would not form the words. Seconds later a searing flame shot by his side singeing a few of the longer hairs that covered his lithe body. The little male yelped loudly, more of a surprise than out of pain, and yet still his mind would not form words. He probably looked pathetic. Maybe this huge male wouldn't tear him limb from limb then. All the petrified wolf could do was cling to the ground and pray that the flaming giant in front of him would realize that he was clearly no threat to his power and had meant nothing by trespassing. Maybe he would just chase him off the lands, surely that would be the only outlet where Kreios would have any sort of advantage. Speed.

As always with their games, Skarlet was constantly on her toes, doing her best to stay just out of reach from her brother while at the same time evading his "attacks". Literally dancing around her was all she could do to keep from being touched by that heated muzzle. She could smell the embers building around his muzzle, a reaction usually to their exhilaration through play of if he was angered. She was certain the cause wasn't the latter.
Curling her lithe frame around on the tips of her paws she faced her sibling and watched his one dance with fire. Elementally they were polar opposites. While he had the passion and ferocity of fire, she harbored the calming and soothing trait of water. Strange be it that she had his canceling element yet it never bothered him. There were times when she threatened to douse him to the bone (something he dreaded above all else) but she never got around her fulfilling her threat. The female rarely used her element, unless it was absolutely necessary.
She watched her brother with envy as he channeled the flames under his command, his concentration set so soundly, yet she could tell he was enjoying himself. She smiled.
His attention grabbed by something in the distance, she turned to his line of sight, azure gems shining through the darkness. A faint figure was palely illuminated by the stars. Only a tinge of beige was seen. Then her sight was obscured by a pelt of stark grey racing up the crater wall with mouth aflame. Skarlet followed a similar example though there was fear in her eyes...and not for her brother.
"Devyant! Stop!" She barked sharply at her sibling, nearly running into him as he halted in front of this silent observer. The poor thing was scrawny-looking and weak compared to her brother. Not a threat in the least and he presented himself as such. The female eyes were hard as she surveyed this stranger but not with the intensity of her brother. Really, Devyant was too defensive at times, but she couldn't blame him. The wolf had given no notice of its vicinity. But it was a little mistake...nothing to be so brash about.
Skarlet looked from the paralyzed wolf to her brother then swiftly clipped him under the jaw, not hard but enough to let him know to calm down. She then licked the spot and returned the gaze to the pale brown wolf. She smiled softly, her eyes reflecting kindness. "Hi! I'm Skarlet. What's your name?"
